I was supposed to post this on Father’s Day but completely forgot about it. It’s my message to men with daughters. Even if you haven’t got a daughter, I still think it’s important you read this. I know it’s a bit different from what I usually post but this is important stuff. I felt I had to write this piece because most men tend to sorta ignore their daughters.
The Importance Of Dad in his Daughter’s Life.
While almost any man can father a child, there is so much more to the important role of being dad in your daughter’s life.
A good father does things for his daughter that no mother is equipped to do. In the first place, he provides her with a positive male role model. In this way, he shows her what her FUTURE HUSBAND should look like. This is probably the most crucial gift he can give his little girl. He doesn’t do this by focusing his attention upon her. Instead, it happens as he DEVOTES HIMSELF TO HER MOTHER (a.k.a your wife). A husband is called to love his wife selflessly, just as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25-29). When he does this, he says in effect, “This is how a man treats a woman.” In so doing, whether he realizes it or not, he affirms his daughter’s femininity. He bolsters her self-esteem and self-confidence. He gives her a SOLID foundation for LIFE-LONG SELF RESPECT. Verbal POSITIVE encouragement, being consistently present in her life, being alert and sensitive to her feelings, taking time to listen to her and taking an active interest in her hobbies. It’s important to actually do these things. Direct involvement and ENCOURAGEMENT will help diminish insecurity and increase her confidence in her own abilities. NEVER tease your daughter in a twisted attempt to “toughen her up”. Negativity + Negativity = Negativity. You will just ruin her for the rest of her life.
When your daughter has learned from your example how a proper man acts toward a proper woman, she will understand the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behaviour between the sexes.
The type of men that she will date and have long-term relationships with are also directly related to the kind of relationship she has with you. She will look for men who hold the patterns of ‘good old dad’. Therefore, if you were kind, loving, and gentle, she will reach for those characteristics in men. Girls will look for, in others, what they have experienced and become familiar with in childhood. Because they’ve gotten used to those familial and historic behavioral patterns, they think that they can handle them in relationships.
So, you see just how special you are to your daughter?? You have a big impact on her life. Don’t ignore her. Ignoring her just guarantees a lifetime of misery for her.
As usual, I never check for errors so please auto correct them if you come across any… I’m running out of stuff to say so…
